GIFTS FROM OVERSEAS

DOMINION'S ATTITUDE

NO APPEAL TO BE MADE

The attitude of the Government regarding donations from overseas was mado clear by the Prime Minister (the Kight Hon. 6. W. Forbes) in a statement to a "Post" reporter. Mr. Forbes said that no appeal for funds would be made in other countries, but if donations wgre made from overseas they would be" gratefully received. When catastrophes had occurred in other countries, in the past New Zealand , had contributed without any appeal being% made, and the Prime Minister thought that it would be ungracious for the .Dominion not to accept offers of money and goods during tho presout disaster. Certainly no* appeal would' be made abroad for funds.
