THE FAIRY RING

DEAR.ONES: / Truly, I had forgotten I had so, many Elves—until the paintings'began to arrive! So many there were that the only way to find the "besties" was to choose them from the carefully mounted, ones . . • those with cardboard backs, and coloured borders, and wee little painted frames. Then I found the best ones . . . done by "Wendy" (16) Wadestown. "Waggles".(l 4) .■..:...:.■...,....,.■, Melrose. "Dawn" (11) ..................... 1 Thorndon. "Black-eyed Susan" (7) Ngaio. But, oh! some were almost as good, only lacking a mount or a tiny bit more care . . . and their owners were: "Pelorus Jack" (17), "Saucy Sally" (16), "Lydia o' the Pines" (15), "Red Coral" (12), "Queen o' the Hills" (12), Kathleen Shadlock (11), "Piglet" (10), and Diana Woodward (8). Beautiful work, Pixies—and I'm so glad you loved doing it. Now, a word about Scrapbooks. Next May we have the Birthday of the Fairy Ring. Four years old it will be, and, we always wish it many happy returns with a Birthday Page . . . and Scrapbooks. These are made of pictures,' stories;, and paintings, lots of which you can find in the Ring. A drawing book makes the best kind of scrapbook, and Postie brings a prize to the Elves who make the loveliest. They must be sent to me at the beginniiig of May; but I'm telling you early so that you can save pictures and stories now. ■ \ I'm waiting to hear all about the new school days. Happy, happy times to you all. ■'■■:.: .' FAIRIEL.
