For the Summer Meal
An effective arrangement'of. the sum? mer vmeal table, and also a means of cutting down the laundry, is to have two long strips of hemstitched linen instead of the usual table cloth. Each strip should be about 12 inches wide and should overhang each end of the table. Along tho centre, where the polished wood is left bare, small mats can be placed on which to stand the dishes. This looks specially effective on a long narrow table and also lends an air of coo.lness. . fadeless coloured linens are also suitable, for this purpose, and the centre mats should,. : of course, match the' linen in : colour. Tho, strips are easily washed and ironed, and,.the table more easily set than if small luncheon mats are used.
