CHRISTCHURCH TO RAISE £10,000

CHBIBTCHUBCH, 6th February The Christchurch City Council increased its donation to the relief fund from £1000 to £10,000 at an urgently summoned meeting this morning. An. amount of £5000 will be available immediately, and the balance jas required. The money will be provided from the. electricity reserve funds. Councillors Andrews and Sullivan, M.P., are leaving to-night for Hawkes Bay. GISBOBNE, 6th February. The' Cook hospital Board has voted £100 to ithe relief fund, 'The "Herald" list exceeds £1000. 'At the call of the military authorities, Colonel Gambrill, Major Muir, and Captains Blackburn and Bongard have gone to Napier to assist to control the situation. . ; OTAKI, 6th February. At a hurriedly called meeting last night attended fey nearly 800 persons, it was decided to supply accommodation for 200 refugees. People are responding liberally. PAHIAIUA, 6th February, r At largely attended public meetings and also meetings.of women's institutions excellent organisations have been arranged for the accommodation of refugees, and also for forwarding food and clothing.
