It: is pointed out that the'statement that the first indication of the disaster at Napier came from the Navy—-tk# Veronica— is not The first intimation received!, by. the Wellington: wireless station was from the s.s. -Taranaki at 11.10; a.m. A second message ■came- at ,11.20 a.m. from thoi Northumberland. The Veronica's message was received at 12.50 p.m.j though possibly the Veronica sent a. message to tho Senior Naval Officer at Auckland some time earlier.
