FLYLATt-BOAT CRASHES SINKS IN PLYMOUTH SOUND

A "Uoyal Air Force Blackburn Iris triplc-engined-flying boat, attached to the MoiinUi;i(te.u Air Station, with twelve »board crashed in Plymouth Sound. Four (if the crew were critically injured, one sineo dying, and eight arc missing. The machine struck the water with terrific force, and an explosion followed. Eight victims, including WingCommander C Turner, were trapped in the cabin and quickly drowned. Horrified witnesses saw the flying boat crash 150 yards from the shore, and quickly rushed to the spot. It is beiicved that the pilot, in descending, mistook tho water level owing to the sun shining in .his eyes. Diving' operations have begun.
