MUSSOLINI CHARGES SENATOR'S OUTBURST

An open hearing of the* charges against Major-General jSmedley Butler was demanded by Senator Heflin- (Democrat), Alabama, in, the Senate on Wednesday, "in. the name of justice and' fair play." The Senator read a, statement published in an anti-Fascist paper in New York declaring that General Butler's charge against Mussolini that he ran down a child and did not] stop was true. "Let the American people sit on the trialj let us know if] this mad monarch is to have the world kowtdwing to him," Senator Heflin said, adding that an American Consul in Italy had been- beaten during* a Fascist' parade, but.no apology was made by.
