DANGEROUS DRIVING

Before Mr. T. B. M'Neil, S.M., at Lower Hutt yesterday, Louis Wliitcombe, who was defended by Mr. W. S. Rollings, was fined £3 on, a charge of dangerous driving. On 21st December last a collision occurred at the corner of Hyde and Laing's road, Lower Hutt, between a' car going north and turning into Laing's road from Hyde street,^ driven by V. Stoupe, and Whitcombe's car, which was proceeding south. The evidence showed that Stoune observed all the rules of the road, and had the right of way into Laing's road, and that Whitcombe failed to so control his car as to avert a collision. The defence was that the road was wet, and that the defendant's car, although braked, skidded to «nch on extent that it weut out of control.
