Air Commodore Kingsford Smith was married to Miss Mary Powell at Scott's Church, Melbourne, last night. FlightLieutenant C. P. Ulm was best man, and members of the Air Force formed an escort and an arch of swords outside the church. Amazing stones were witnessed at the wedding. A crowd of ten thousand peox)le, mostly women, fought to catch a close glimpse of the bridal pair. Mounted troopers and motor police were rushed to the scene to rescue the original twenty foot police, who were overpowered by the dense throng, which blocked traffic and broke the barriers. Some women were injured in the crush and many fainted. Pickpockets were active, but several were arrested.
