GOOD PREOSPECTS
FOR FINE WEATHER
The depression mentioned in yesterday's weather notes crossed the South Island last night. It was, however, of only slight intensity by the time it reached these shores, and its effect was riot at all severe. By 9 a.m. to-day the anticipated southerly change had spread to nearly all parts of the Dominion, but northerly winds were still prevailing in tho Taranaki Bight. The weather has been cloudy in districts with a -westerly aspect, and a few showers have fallen in those parts as well as in tho southern part of the Dominion. Eastern 1 districts had fair weather yesterday, with, mild to warm temperatures with a slight fall when the southerly change took place. All the main centres had fair and mild weather yesterday, but in Dunediu a light rain fell in the late afternoon. Variable winds are now forecasted^ with light to moderate winds from botwecn west and south prevailing. Fair to fine weather may be expected generally, although a few showers at first ano not improbable on the coasts. Tho indications arc favourable at present for several days' fine weather.
