A two-roomed bach at the rear of .No. 59, Cudby street, Lower Hutt, occupied by Mr. J. H. Sergent, and owned by Mr. Robert Smith, was destroyed by lire at 12.45 a.m. to-day. It was valued at £300, and was insured in the Royal Insurance Company for £150. There was also a policy in the same office for £50' on the furniture. The origin of the lire is not known. The efforts of the brigade were concentrated on saying the residence in front.
