RED CROSS JUNIORS

Among many good undertakings entered upon by the Bed Cross Juniors, under tho kind 'supervision of their seniors, is the "Crippled and Sick Children's Fund." This has not long been started, but is showing good results already. The Red Cross Juniors have provided threo weeks' treatment, at a convalescent home for an invalid child, who has benefited very much. The matron of tlie home granted a good reduction in fees, and received gratitude from all concerned. In the Portfolio Competition, the Wellington Girls' College circle won the- first prize, St. Hilda's Collegiate School being secondhand St. Mary's Diocesan School (Stratford) third. In tho' primary schools' section the first prize went to Ikawai School (Waimato);- second prize to Wcstown (New Plymouth), and: third prize to Mornington (Duncdin). Mr. Frank Hurley gave the prizes for this competition. Sister Lewis announces the result of recent First <Aid and. Homo. Senior First Aid (Mr. George Shirtcliffe Trophy): Upper Hutt Team (Mrs. G» E. Smith, captain). Senior Home Nursing (Hon. W. E. Collins Trophy): No. 1 Headquarters Team. (Miss.Dorothy Cooper, captain). Three new circles have been formed during the month, one at Springfield School,: South Canterbury,"another at St. Anthony's School, Pahiatua, and a third at' Opunake, Taranaki. All the many circles throughout the Dominion send reports of kindnesses done in tho way of ■ providing eggs and fruit, etc., for the sick, and the making of toys and garments for tho poor little ones, showing that through the agency of tho Red Cross the younger folk are being given training in social service and an ideal of life that is admirable.
