DISASTER AT SHANGHAI

THREE PEOPLE KILLED

United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyrifiht. (Received 10th December, S a.m.) SHANGHAI, 9th December. The Hankow mail aeroplane crashed to-day in Shanghai whilo taking off. The machine was rising from the Whangpoo . River, when it struck tho mast of a junk. A wing \^as torn off and the niachino crashed into the river. The pilot, Paul Baer, an American and a member of the Lafayette Escadrille, the co-pilot, a Chinese, and a passenger, Mrs. Andreeva, a Russian, were killed. General Hsiung Shiwei, a garrison commander, and three Chinese passengers were seriously injured. This is the first accident since the air mail has been inaugurated.
