PRICE OF FERTILISERS.
Extended use of fertilisers on dairy lands ■as. undoubtedly responsible in large iueasure for the increased production of "butter-fat, but some farmers in the WaiJcato district, at any rate, are of opinion that the prices of fertiliser should be reduced or failing that the use of _ fertilisers should be suspended. The Waikato subProvincial branch of the Farmers' Union, Hamilton, has resolved to approach merchants with a view to having the price 'of manures reduced in sympathy with the lower prices obtaining for primary produce. Failing any response, the executive shall launch a movement to organise the various districts with a view to inducing farmers to refrain from using manures until the desired reductions are forthcoming. The mover, Mr. Davison, said teomething should be done as competition and efficiency had been replaced by rings and combines, Mr. Baker contended that it was utterly foolish of farmers to ÜBe Snamires at present prices, as an increase in production would bo more than offset hy a subsequent decline in prices.
