NGAIO AFFAIRS
Mr. H. L. Cummings presided at the monthly meeting of-the Ngaio Progressive Association, which was held last evening. A deputation from the Ngaio Croquet Club waited on the association with regard to th-e formation of croquet greens on the ground at the rear of the Town Hall. It was stated by a member of tho deputation that as the area was barely largo enough for the formation of one green, they would not consider spending money on the project, as they needed two greens. The deputation decided to write to croquet clubs in the city, asking for information as to the rules governing municipal croquet clubs. . . . A letter from the Now Zealand branch of the British Empire Cancer Campaign requesting tho association to organise a district collecting scheme for the campaign 's fund was held over. It was stated that £15 had been collected by the association as a first instalment towards the Mayor's unem- | ployment fund. The next meeting of the association will be in tho first week in February.
