EXPERIENCE IN AUSTRALIA

(By Teleoraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, This Day. Two young Auckland engineers, Messrs. A. J. Dickson and L. E. B. Wakeman, both of whom were formerly in the City Engineering Department, and who latterly have been employed by the Main Boads Boards of New South Wales and Western Australia respectively, returned by the Ulimaroa from Sydney yesterday. Mr. Dickson, who went to Australia with a University travelling scholarship, was engaged as assistant engineer with the Main Eoads Board of New South Wales and on the Public Works staff, which was associated with the building of the Harbour Bridge. He is now taking up a position as designing engineer to the Auckland City Council. Mr. Wakeman went to Australia last April as assistant engineer to the Main Boads Board of Western Australia, and has been retrenched 'in accordance with a scheme of drastic economies. Eight district offices have been closed, and twelve assistant engineers have been retrenched. Some of these men have already gone back to England and America. -
