STRUGGLE IN COUNCIL CHAMBER

MAYOR RIDICULED

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHBISTCHUECH, This Day. An ugly scene occurred during an unemployed demonstration inside the City Council Chambers in Manchester street this morning. A number of men took possession of the Chamber, carrying banners and demanding to see tlie Mayor. When he arrived he was held up to ridicnle. A strong force of police arrived and ordered tho men out. Tbere was a good deal of shouting and struggling, and finally the police drew their batons, and at least one of the leaders got a sharp rap on the head and was ejected. This had the effect of quietening the riotous element, and order was restored, the men walking out into the street.
