(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Tho attention of the Minister in Charge of Immigration is to bo called by tlio Christchureh City Council to the number of steerage passengers who are arriving at New Zealand ports from Australia and San Francisco. The matter was raised at last even-1 ing's meeting of the council by Councillor \V. Williamson, who said that the public were being called upon to pay their share of tho "dole," and people were coming here to get the benefits and to deprive New Zealandborn men of consideration. It had been stated that a number of shearers were coming from Australia. AVhile New Zealanders were out o.f work the council should help New Zealand-born men every time. Tho last boat to arrive at Bluff brought 166 steerage passengers.
