IMPORTS AND EXPORTS

WASHINGTON, 7th December

The Department of Commerce has announced that the value of the United States foreign trade for the first ten months of 1930 declined by over two billion dollars, on both imports and exports, below the like period for 1929, when the total figure was 8,123,271,000 dollars, compared with 5,928,810,000 dollars for 1930. The United States exports to Australia for the first ten mouths of 1929 totalled 163,084,000 dollars. In 1930 they were 96,124,000 dollars. Imports from Australia for the same period of 1929 totalled 51,000,000 dollars. In 1930 they were 29,000,000 dollars. It ia announced that the Soviet alone showed increased purchases of American goods. Tho sales also increased slightly. Imports from and exports to Britain and Canada decreased sharply.
