SCHOOL REUNION

PETONE CENTKAL EX-PUPILS Tlio first reunion of the old scholars of the Petone Central School,- lield in the Labour Hull, Petone, last night, ■was n yreat success. There were about two hundred people present. Mr. J. C. Burns, a one-time pupil at the school, who later became a teacher there, and is now headmaster at Petone West, 'presided. On the platform with him were Mr. D. M'Kenzie, Mayor of Petone, and an ex-chairman of the Central School Committee, Mr. C. R. Joplin, the school's first headmaster, Miss Stanton, Mrs. Boyd, > Miss Slater, Miss Maynard, Mrs. Evans, Mr. S. Duncan, and Mr. B. Kean, all former teachers at the school, and. Mr. P. E. Cairns, secretary of the es-Scholars' Association. Apologies for absence were received from Mr. W. Foster, an ex-headmaster, and Mr. J. H. Lynskey, an ex-teacher at the school. Speeches were made by Mr. Cairns. Mr. M'Kenzie. and Mr. Joplin. Mr. Burns apologised for the unavoidable absence of the new headmaster of the school. Mr. F. W. Moore, who was to have been welcomed at the gathering. ■ Musical items were provided by Mrs. Millward and Misses Joplin. Harper, siml I'Yecmiin. and llcssiv. Gladiiifi.
