SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS,

Pressure distribution is practically the same as it has been for the past week over the New Zealand area and the Tasman Sea, an anti.cyclone still holding sway. The depression at the Chatham Islands, however, has at last commenced to move eastwards. The moderate to fresh southerlies of yesterday have given place to northerly winds at most places, and consequently temperatures are milder ■ to-day. Except for somo showers in the Auckland and Westlaud provinces the weather has been fair to fine.
