THE MATAI'S MOVEMENTS.

The Matai leaves Wellington to-morrow for the Cook Strait lighthouses. She will be away about a week or ten days.

PORT HUON REPORTS. „ The Port Huon, en route from New York, reports by radio that she expects to arrive at Auckland at 7 p.m. next Friday. Sho is due at Wellington on 19th December.

lONIC LEAVES SOUTHAMPTON,

After being held up for three days by fog, the Shaw, Savlll, and Albion liner lonic left Southampton yesterday afternoon for Auckland and Wellington with passengers and cargo. Sho is due at Auckland about 16th January.

TAINUI REPORTED.

The Talnui, which sailed from Napier on 20th November for Southampton and London, via Panama, has reported by wireless that she expects to arrive at Balboa to-morrow. The Tainui has experienced an excellent passage across the Pacific.

CORINTHIC DUE NEXT TUESDAY.

The Corlnthic, en route from Southampton, has reported by wireless that she exports to arrive at Wellington at 4 a.m. on Tuesday next She will land her passengers here, ana will sail in the afternoon for Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff to discharge her cargo.

WAIKAWA FROM LOS ANGELES,

The Walkawa, en route from Los Angeles, has reported by wireless that she expects to arrive at Napier on Saturday. She proceeds later to Lyttelton, Dunedin, Nelson, and New Plymouth.

ALTERATION IN FOG SIGNAL,

The existing explosive fog signal at Taiatoa Head will be replaced on 22nd December. 1930 by a dlaphoue operated by compressed air The dlaphone sounds one blast every minute, thus:—Blast, 3scc; silent, STsec.

LOW-LEVEL LIGHT AT PENCARROW.

The Marino Department notifies that the character of the low-level lieht at Pcncarrow Head will be altered from flxed -white with red sectors to group-flashing white with red sectors having three flashes every 12 seconds, thus:—Flash, lsec; eclipse. l-sscc; flash, lsec; eclipse, l-ssec; Hash, 2sec; eclipse, ssec. Tho elevation of the light will be. increased from 32ft (OmS) to 60ft (18m3), and tho visibility to 15 miles. Tho sectors will remain unaltered. Tho alteration will take place In January of next year.
