Starting times at the Woodville District Jockey Club's Meeting to-morrow will be:— 11.45: Manga-atua Hurdles. 12.30: Trial Pkte. 1.15: Bolton Handicap. 2.0: Nursery Handicap. 2.45: Oete Handicap. 3.30: Mangarawa Hack Handicap: 4.15: Whariti Hack Handicap. 5.0: Borough Handicap. To-morrow's Divisions. In the event of there being more than 19 starters in the Nursery Handicap, the race will be run in divisions, and there will be no coupled horses. If the race is reduced to one division Chief Cook and Chief Clerk, and Teller and Buster Brown will form brackets. The Mangarawa Handicap will also be run in divisions unless the number of starters is reduced to )9. There are no brackets in this contest. Position of Brackets. In the case of the Nursery Handicap, it is worth notice that if divisions are necessary there will be no totalisator brackets. Chief Cook and Chief Clerk, and Teller and Buster Brown already have separate numbers allotted them in the correct card, and they will be four distinct horses for betting purpose' if a division is required. Their numbers are 1, 2, 12, and 13 respectively, but if the race becomes a one-divi-sion contest, then the first pair will be grouped as though 1 and la, and the second group as though 12 and 12a, and the numbers 2 and 13 will be missing from the totalisator index window. This is in accordance with a special interpretation of the division rule issued by the Racing Conference. Case of L. Manson. An appeal made to the New Zealand Racing Conference by the Whangarei Racing Club against the action of the Auckland District Committee in reducing the term of suspension imposed on the jockey L. Manson has been withdrawn. Hannibal Changes Hands. The Auckland sportsman, Mr. J. E. Wells, has sold the five-year-old gelding Hannibal, by Catmint from Nordica, to W. J. Hawkins, trainer of Gay Cockade. Hannibal won his way out of hack company by scoring in the second division of the Jervois Handicap at Ellerslie in June, but since his promotion to the open class he has not been a Buccess. His new trainer intends to potter him about away from the tracks for a while, and is hopeful that he will be able to get him to do better later in the season. Cylinder Not For Cup. Cylinder, the leading three-year-old of the season, winner of the Wanganui and Avondale Guineas, the New Zealand Derby, and the Stead Gold Cup, will not be a runner in the Auckland Cup. A great deal of interest has been manifested in the intentions of his connections, in view of his favourable weight in the Cup, and this announcement will be appreciated by sportsmen throughout the Dominion. Star Stranger will be the sole Jefferd representative now in the Cup, and Cylinder will be reserved for the Derby and weight-for-age races, and possibly the Queen's Plate on the opening day. Team for Auckland. The Riccarton trainer, P. D. Jones, has arranged to race a team at the Auckland Racing Club's Summer Meeting. He expects to take Paqtiito, First Sight, and Solvent,- while Coroner may go as .well, for hack events. A Sporting Gift. In order to commemorate his 50 years' connection with the totalisator at the Rangitikei Racing Club's. Meetings, Mr. George Spriggens, of Wanganui, has given a solid silver tea and coffee service and tray as a trophy, which will be attached to the Hack Cup. This handsome and useful trophy wiil ensure keen competition in the hack class. Auckland Scratchings. The three-year-old Merry Cry, brother to Hunting Cry, was scratched at 9.30 a.m. last Thursday for all engagements at the Auckland Racing Club's Summer Meeting. Awarere was scratched for all engagements last Friday week. In the Shade Tunes Up. After a period of comparatively easy exercise In the Shade began his Auckland Cup preparation in earnest at Takanini last Thursday with a solid gallop over a mile. In the Shade carried G. Jones and Sargon B. Stewart, the weights being fair ly even, and In the Shade had the outside running. They kept close together all the way nnd finished on terms in lmin 43 3-ssec, both being stretched out at the finish. The first half-mile occupied 51 4-ssec, and the second 51 4-ssec, so that it will be seen what an even pace was set. It was a good' gallop on the part of both horses, although Sargon pulled up tin; better. This was due to the fact thai Sargon raced as recently as last Saturday week, whereas In the Shade had not had :\ eolid gallop since his return from Riccur ton. _ i Odds and Ends. Nominations for the Wairarapa Racing Club's Summer Meeting close at 8 o'clock this evening. The telegraph office at Featherston closes at 5 p.m. Count Palatine will be ridden in the Auckland Cun by S. Gerrand. He will be on Awaken in the Railway Handicap. Gerrand will be on Blimp, Kahikatoa, Laconic, Glider, and Hawkshaw at Woodville to-morrow. . .^' The Wellington sportsman, Mr. H. Murphy, has received advice that his brood mare Tea Doll, who is sister to La Poupee, has foaled a bay colt to Acre. The Wanganui trainer M. Gardner will probably take a team consisting of Fernden, Korokio, Just an Idea, and Danny Boy to the Wairarapa Meeting at the New Year.
