CHRISTCHURCH EVENTS \
(Special to "The Evening Post.") CHRISTCHDECH, 7th December. The annual meeting of the combined amateur athletic clubs of Christchurch was held at Papanui Domain in splendid weather. The track was in excellent order and good times were recorded. Eesults are as follow: — Half-mile Cycle Handicap.—Final: Neely, SOyds, 1; Hands, 110 yds, 2; Basher, 50yda, 3. Neely finished very strongly, winning by tivo lengths. Time, Imin 3sec. 100 Yards Open Handicap.—Final: Mac-Far-lane, 4M>yds, 1; Harrison, 9yds, 2; Hart, 2yds, 3. MacFarlane started brilliantly and beat Harrison in a good finish by two feet. Hart was a foot away third. Time, lOsec. One Mile Cycle Handicap.—Final: Weir, 115 yds, 1; Rhodes, 100 yds, 2; Neely, 150 yds, 3. Weir jumped away over the last furlong and won by five lengths, half a length between second and v: Time, 2mln 13 4-ssec. •140 Yardn Grade Handicap.—D. Sykes, 25yds, 1; H. 11. Gibbons, 2; R. A. Weston, 23yds, 3. ! Sykes sprinted away from the field to win by elcht yards, with three yards between second and third. Time, 51 l-ssec. 220 Yards Open Handicap.—Final: C. S. Barrcll, IGyds, 1; E. J. Drake, 18yds, 2; C. D. Burn, 1 9yds, 3. In a wonderful finish Barrell beat Drake by less than a foot. Time, 23 4-ssec. Mile Open Handicap.—C. S. Ell, 70yds, I; J. Hay, 60yds, 2; M. S. Itudkin, 75yds, -3. Ell ran a well-judged race. In a great finish barely a yard separated the placed men. Time, 4min 34 3-ssec. 100 Yards Women's Handicap.—E. Hay, 3%yds, 1; A. Bamford, Byds, 2; G. Williams, 4'/4yds, 3. Won by a foot, with the field close up. Time, 11 2-ssec. BSO Yards Open Handicap.—H. L. Henry, 50yds, 1; B. H. Haworth, 55yds, 2; L. G. Willis, 25yds, 3. Haworth came out 300 yards from the tape, but Henry sprinted the last 15 yards to beat him by four yards. Time, Imin 59sec. A Grade Relay.—C.A.A.C. (M. A. Blackmore, R. Cordery, K. Edwards, G. Hart), 1; Sumner, 2; University, 3. Sumner ran a good race, staying close to C.A.A.C. till the short distances were reached, but Hart ran in an easy first. Time, Imin 59sec.
