GOOD FIELDS IN ALL EVENTS

Good fields contested the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club's handicaps on Saturday afternoon, and the racing was very keen and interesting. A light southerly was in evidence when the boats went away at about 3 o'clock, but towards the end of the afternoon it became patchy, aud the heavy weather keelers suffered accordingly. The first-class keelers' race, which was sailed from the Clyde Quay AVharf to the Somes Rock buoy, thence to the' southern blinker, and home, resulted in a good win for the. Marangi, which was well suited by the conditions. She was first home, followed by the Rona, Viola, AA rairere 11., Wairere 1., Ailsa, and Atalanta in that order. When the times were adjusted the Marangi retained first place from the Rona, with the \ riola third. The Windward was first over the finishing line in the second-class keelers' race, sailed from the Clyde Quay wharf to Jcrningham, thence to the Datum Point buoy, back to Jcrningham, and home. She won on corrected times without the use of \er handicap, the Mini, which finished second, retaining that position. The Galatea, on the scratch mark, was home .soon after the Mini, but had to give third place to the Linnet. There were fourteen starters in the 18ft and under class race for the Grey Cup, which was won by the Kio 11. from scratch. Four of the Sanders Cup candidates—-the Clyde, Wellcsly 11., Misa Josephine, and Kia Ora— took part, but the Kio was too good for them in actual sailing and finished 11% minutes ahead of the AVellesley, the first trial boat home. The Indolence finished .second, and the Miss Josephine fourth. At the end of the first.round the Kio was o minutes ahead of the Kia Ora, with the Wcllesley half a minute further back. Another half-minute back came the Miss Josephine, followed by the Clyde and the Nancy. The Phantom and the Miss Josephine were given second and thiriJ places respectively on corrected times. The 7ft boats sailed over the same course as the 18ft aud under class, once round. All started from scratch, and the finishing times were as follow: F. Saunders, 4hr 25min ssec,l; G.
