SUMMER COMPETITIONS
Most of the golf links arouud - Wellington at present are playing excellently, and the fine weather at the week-eiid attracted large numbers of players to all courses. WELLINGTON CLUB The links at Heretaunga are in beautiful order at present, and the fine weather over the week-end made playing ver.*; enjoyable. ■ The following are the results of tb« games played so far in the first round ol the senior division of the club championship:— A. D. S. Duncan beat J. W. Ward, 3 and 7. V. G. Rhind beat M. Blundeil, 4 and 2. D. O. Whyte beat J. B. M'Ewen, 10 and 9. , R. E. Tolhurst beat G. G. Dawsou, 1 and 1. J. B. Parker beat I. W. Williams. 7 and 6. E. O. Hales beat K. D. Duncan, & and 3. D. C. Collins beat E. S. Toogood, 1 up at the 37th. There is one game still to be played. The men's foursomes for the Ranfurly Cup were played on Saturday, and resulted: — J. B. Parker and H. P. F. Blundell, all square. D. 0. Whyte and V. G. Rhind, 3 down. D. R. llenzics and J. C. Peacock, 3 down. C. Richardson and R. 0. Chesney, 3 down. E. D. Blundell won the weekly bogey; competition with. 3. up. SHANDON CLUB ■ Many golfers took advantage of tha Shandon Club's summer programme over the week-end. Harold Black, the New Zealand amateur champion,' who was one of the visitors, expressed his appreciation of the progress that has been made in laying-out _ the course, and the excellent playing condition, of the links. Playing in a four-bail,, Black got down to bogey figures. J. S. Hunter, wlio is playing consistently lately, returned a 76. . The best cards in Saturday's stroke.competition were: 0. L. Bishop, 89-24M55, and F. C. Denz, S5-14—71. MANOR PARK CLTJB The conditions at Manor Park oyer#b» week-end left nothing to be desired. TS» links were bathed in sunshine and entiijeljr sheltered from wind by the surrounding hills. The course has been almost entffily cleared of all debris washed up by the recent flood, and, witb tlie further improvements that, will be made this vredfc with tractor and triplex mower, the link* should be in splendid shape again from now on. Or. Saturday, an 18 hole bogey competition :'^ok place, Herd (11) and Barnard. (11) each coming in all-square. D. Cody (8) put in the next best score with I down. Yesterday an 18-hole medal round vm played, Mehaffey (12) putting in the whining card of 71. A. Murray (7) was next best with 73. In the "afternoon the 18----hole mixed four-ball bogey competition for trophies presented by the club was won by Cody and Mrs. Sherwood with the good card of 6 up, Murray and Mrs. Hawower taking second place with 5 up. 1 WELLINGTON LADIES' CLTJB The following is the draw for a medal competition to be played on Wednesday for trophies presented by Miss Duncan, president of the Ladies' Club:— Seniors: Mrs. Weston v.
