Twenty-two people were killed and many injured in the Pyu area, near Toungoo, in an earthquake experienced throughout Burma this morning- , A large number of buildings were destroyed, and the courthouse and two railway bridges were badly damaged in Pyu, causing a suspension of the service between upper and lower Burma. Fire broke out after the shocks, and several shops were gutted. Heavy damage was caused to buildings in Toungoo, but Rangoon escaped lightly. > ■
