THE NATIVE BORN
AN AMERICAN VIEW
AUSTRALIAN GOVERNORS
"RUDE ANTIPODEANS"
D'uited Press Association—By Electric: TUegraph—Copyright. (Received sth December, 8 ajn.) NEW YORK, 4th December. The "New York Times," in a leading article, headed "A Health to the Native-Born," says: — "The appointment of Sir Isaac Isaacs marks the final stage of an old dispute. It is hard to believe the report that jMr. Earosay Mac Donald's Government ■ remonstrated with Mr. Scullin and wanted to continue imported Governor-Generals, for it is not that Government's business. The main argument for an imported GovernorGeneral has been that he is apart from local politics. Whatever that argument is worth it cannot apply to Sir Isaac Isaacs. If Australians are satisfied, who has any reason to complain? By trial and error, Australia will get or not get what' she wants. Probably the next step of these rude Antipodeans will be the substitution of domestic for imported Governors of their several States."
