It is reported unofficially in banking circles that the Federal Labour Caucus has succeeded in persuading the Government to agree to an inflation of currency 'to the extent of £24,000,000. A representative conference of primary producing, banking, mercantile, and insurance interests at Sydney to-day discussed the financial outlook, and condemned the attempts to inflate the currency. A resolution to the effect was passed that unless steps be taken immediately to reduce the- costs, the primary industries must cease operation, and a seri- . ous' financial collapse be made inevitable.
