MARANUI SURF CLUB.
The final arrangements have now been made for the opening o£ the new pavilion of the Maranui Surf and Life-saving Clubi to-morrow at 2.30 p.m. by the Mayor. Mr. K. .Semple will also speak, after which exhibitions of life-saving both by reel and line and by the surf boat will be given by club members. The members of the public will be given an opportunity to inspect the building, which is the best equipped and most up-to-date in tha Dominion. ! During the afternoon the Hon. H« Atmore, Minister of Education, will present three diplomas of the Royal Lifesaving Society (which is the highest lifesaving award in the world) to three ladies, Mrs. M. Andrews (nee Landon Lane), Miss Sinclair Breen, and Miss Nancy Webber. AH three ladies were pupils of the Wellington Teachers' Training College, and Mrs. Andrews holds the unique honour of being the first lady to gain this award in New Zealand. Mr. P. Fraser, M.P., will present an award of the Royal Humane Society to Mr. GoodBell, a club member who saved a life in the boat harbour. As old club members from all over New Zealand are coming to the opening of the new clubhouse, a reunion dinner i« being held to-night, which promises to be a popular function. Afternoon tea will be served to all visitors to the clubhouse during the afternoon, and the ceremonies wiliolow witti a dance afc the clubhonse in the evening ,
