MORE SATISFACTORY FIGURES

(British Official Wireless.) BUGBY, 2nd December. The Kegistrar-General's quarterly return issued last night shows a slightly higher birth rate and a lower death rate than in the corresponding quarter of last year. The most striking figure, however, is that of infant mortality. This death rate was 45 per 1000, which is 14 per 1000 below the average of the ton preceding quarters, and ia the lowest ever recorded.
