The oflieial report of the Australian cricket team's tour to England this year will be considered at a mooting of the Australian Board- of- Control this month, and, from what has been stated previously, tha financial result so far as Australia is concerned will ..be better than that of any previous tour. It was roported in "The Post" recently that Australia's share of the takings on the tour amounted to £39,8.35, which was over £4000 above tho previous best amount for a similar tour. / Word has now come to hand from England regarding the .takings at tho Test matches. The' receipts at Nottingham were £12,352, at Lords £23,----618, at Leeds £.8600, at .Manchester £13,821, and at the Oval £18,977. VISIT FROM AUSTRALIA. One matter to be considered, by the Australian Board of Control at its next meeting will bo of particular interest to New Zealand. A request has been made for an Australian team to visit the Dominion late in the season, one of tho main objects being to provide the Now Zealand team for England with some Test play before leaving on the big tour. The latest information from Australia is to the effect that there are good prospects of a strong team being available for tho trip. Tho matter will bo decided at tho Board of Control meeting. TOWN v. COUNTRY. The annual match between teams representing Town and Country is'to commonco at the Basin Reserve at 11 a.m. to-morrow. In view of the search for players for tho New Zealand team which is to visit England next yoai", additional interest is Toeing taken in tho match, and good performances are expected on both sides. Another, point of interest will be the use of the larger wickets. Canterbury Town and Country players met in Christchurch yesterday, when the country representatives made only 70 runs in their first innings, the Town team replying- with a big score. A much better performance than that is expected from Wellington's country players at tho Basin Eeservo on Friday and Saturday. A change has been made in the Country team, advice having been received that Bullock-Douglas, of Wanganui, has been included. . / .
