SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY
MUs M. Tolan arranged a highly successful programme for her seafaring guests at The Sailors' Friend Society lust night. The items rendered with taste and feeling drew forth much applause from an audience that taxed the scaling accommodation. The performers were Misses Florence Pudley, Eva' Bavron. Alary Pudley, liarbara Filt, Vora Tolan, Mary Davies, M Tolan, und Mr. Million, and Masters D. Tolan and K. Arnold. Miss M. Tolan , was at the piano. ''Why Take Chances?" was Mr. J. Moore's temperance subject, and men signed the pledge. During the evening the hostess and her helpers served light refreshments. Competitions were held in an interval. The prizes came from the hostess and Miss Ridley, aud went to the Remuora and Turakina.
