(Received 3rd December, 1 p.m.) BRISBANE, This Day. Queensland won the Sheffield Shield match against New South Wales on tho first innings by 121 runs. Queensland made 687 in the first in- j nings, which is a record for a Sheffield Shield match at Brisbane. Thompson, not out, made 275 runs, j Benstead 52, and Hurwood 47. ! For New South Wales, Hunt . took four wickets for 12S, Chilvers two for 209, and Stewart two for 83. Fairfax did not get a solitary wicket. The New South Wales second innings score was five wickets for 159. Jackson and M'Cabe each made 53. The match was remarkable for phenomenal scoring. Thompson's achievement caused the wildest cheering, and spectators carried him off shoulder high.
