CLASH ON CANEFIELDS
OBJECTION TO.FOREIGNERS-
BRISBANE, Ist December. A serious clash occurred in. the vicinity of Tully between British and foreign nationals engaged. in the sugarfields. Many were injured. The combatants are all eaneworkers. Sticks, stones, bottles, knives, and pistols were used. George Norris has a wound in his chest ten inches long. Harry Robertson has a. knii'c stab in the back. An Italian has a bullet wound in the leg and an Italian woman is suffering from a wound in the head. Five other- Italians were treated in hospital' for cuts and abrasions. The clash was the outcome of bad feeling duo to tho ever-increasing influx of foreigners. '
