NEW SPEED RECORD

(Received 2nd December, 2.30 p.m.) VANCOUVER, Ist December. A message from Burbank, California, states that Ruth Nichols Ryeny, a society woman aviator, set a woman's transcontinental speed record, which, was formerly held by Mrs. Keith Miller. She-arrived at Burbank to-day from New York, in 17 hours 3 minutes' flying time.. She flew from Kingman, Arizona, on Monday, and used a large cabin monoplane.
