SYDNEY, 30th November. At the Stadium, Jack Haines ' (list 41b) defeated the Italian Emilio Bernasconi (list 61b). The contest had an amusing ending. Haines shook the Italian in the seventh round with a blow to the solar plexus, dropping him to the boards. - When about to rise to his feet the Italian j saw Haines approaching and, throw-,1 ing up his hands as a sign of surrender, he slid through the ropes and ran off to the dressing-room. As he ran he was pelted by a section of the crowd of 4000 with peanuts.
