COACH'S TEAM BATTING

A special cricket match was played at the Basin Eeserve to-day between teams chosen by C. S. Dempster (Wellington's official coach) and E. C. Wiren (captain of the Wellington Club's senior team). Dempster's team, -which was made up mainly of promising colts, had first use of the wicket, and during the two hours of play prior to the luncheon adjournment- 110 runs were compiled for the loss of four wickets. Dempster at that stage had made .40 not out. Cleave, who has been showing excellent form in the junior A grade, played -\v.ell in compiling 17, and others to make double-figure scores "were Tindill and dv Chateau. Blundell and Cousins set up a solid attack, the former bowling steadily throughout seventeen overs, the latter starting off well.
