SILVER BETTOR
BOOKMAKER FINED £20
A fine of £20 was imposed on William Benjamin Wilkinson, aged 34, by Mr. J. S. Barton, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court yesterday afternoon, on a charge of bookmaking. Detective-Sergeant Holmes said that when the accused was arrested betting material and records of nine bets having been taken were found in his possession, The accused, who had been betting for about six months, was principally a silver bettor. He had not previously been before the Court for betting. Default was fixed at three weeks' imprisonment. v
The Corporation of London'will be recommended to acquire Nos. 70 and 7-1, Bishopsgate, in order to preserve them. These two shops stand on cither sido of the porch of St. Ethelburga's Church, and with tho church itself date from before the great fire. Tho trustees of the London Parochial Charities have agreed to soil them to the Corporation for £4000. ■>,
