Mr. E. P. Lamont, the United States Secretary for Commerce, has informed President Hoover that he expects public and private construction work during 1930 representing a total expenditure of about 10,000,000,000 dollars (£2,----000,000,000). Seven thousand million dollars (£1,400,000,000) will be spent on public buildings and maintenance, and works of utility, constituting a record.
