SIX MILE A MINUTE
R.A.F. SPEED 'PLANES
(Received 22nd September, 1.15 p.m.) LONDON, 21st September. A speed of over six miles a minute was attained by the R.A.P. high-speed machines in practice flights. The fastest was that of a Gloucester-Napier, built for but not used in the Schneider Trophy contest. Though the speed exceeded that of O debar'a official record made on a Supermarine Kolls-Eoyce, it does not rank because it was not observed. The Air Ministry does not intend officially to attack the record until n, foreigner beats Orlebar's figures.
