AERIAL ESCAPADE
CRASH IN SYDNEY SUBURB PILOT AND PASSENGER United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received 22nd September, 1 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. A young aviator, whose identity is undisclosed, gained notoriety yesterday, and also narrowly escaped death.. He stole an aeroplane from the Hargrave Park aerodrome, intending to be the first to land an aeroplane at Katoomba. However, he crashed at Granville, a suburb of Sydney. He severely damaged the machine, but escaped injury himself.
A y«)ung passenger accompanied,the pilot. When the machine crashed, the joyrider calmly arranged for the transport of the wrecked 'plane to the Mascot aerodrome. He assisted to dismantle the Moth, secured a lorry, and rode as far as the St. Peter's suburb, near Mascot, with it. The bogus pilot then gave the driver a note and told him that the Mascot authorities would pay, and loft the lorry.
