THE CEMETERY
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —Yesterday with impressive and reverent ceremony members o£ Parliament assisted at the graveside of the late Mr. Massey iv the dedication of a memorial to the departed statesman. Very shortly, possibly during the nest week or two, the same members of Parliament will be called upon to consider a private Bill proposing to demolish a large section of Wellington's original cemetery, digging up _ the graves of many of the pioneers of this country's settlement, notwithstanding the fact that their immediate descendants are still living in the city. Is it conceivable to think the members who were engaged in yesterday's ceremony can possibly sanction such desecration.—l am, etc.,
G. HAROLD. BANNISTER. 20th September.
