Broken gramophone records can ,be used for getting up a dying fire. There must, however, be a sufficiently bright glow to ignite the records. ' Old toothbrushes which have been thoroughly washed will bo found excellent for cleaning brooches, rings, and other pieces of jewellery with eau-de-Cologne. Pearls should not be wetted with eau-de-Cologne.
