WESTERN ACCESS

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—A proposal at the meeting, of protest against the suggested road through . the cemetery, that the route should follow Museum and Sydney streets as at preseut seems a' good,, way out "..of all difficulties. With slight encroachments iit the corner of the above .streets,: and perhaps narrower footpaths, the whole thing could be done for a tew pounds, without desecration of the graves of the pioneers, to whom Wellington owes so much, or taking private property, and paying excessive compensation. Of course the cheapness of this scheme might not appeal to the City Council.—l am, etc., . ■ , ■ SETTLER. 17th September.
