BLAZE AT WANGANUI
DRAPER'S SHOP GUTTED

WANGANUI, 19th September.
Fire completely gutted a two-storied draper's premises in Victoria avenue, Wanganui, to-night, resulting in the loss of stock valued at over £4000. The premises were- occupied by Mr. Trevor Thomas, and the building owned by Mrs. C. J. Gatenby.
The stocks of a chemist, Mr. A. M'Phai], in the same building, and Mr. H. J. Grieve, jeweller, in the adjoining building, were heavily damaged by water. The insurances for Mr. Thomas were £2500 on the stock and £500 on the ! fittings, all inthe General Accident, Fire, and Life Assurance Corporation. Insur-ance-on the building was for £1650 in the New Zealand Insurance Company, and on the jeweller's stock tho insurances were £10,000, divided between the New Zealand Insurance Company and the South British. On the chemist's Btock there was a cover of over £2000.
