FORTUNATE DISTRICT
ATTENTION TO EOSENEATH
"At the present time there are very few matters in the district which require attention, Koseneath having been particularly fortunate in receiving considerable attention during the past year," commented tli report of the Rosoneath and Oriental Municipal Electors' Association, which was presented at the annual meeting on Wednesday. The executive had been xn close cooperation with the City Council and its departmental heads, and, although occasionally a certain amount of criticism had been shown, it had been constructive rather than destructive, the report continued. A further stretch of the arterial road through Roseneath was being completed, and widening operations were being carried out. It was hoped that the final link would be completed during the present financial year. The lower part of Grafton road iiad been biturainised, together with the crescent. Requests concerning the bus servico had been sympathetically received and residents had reason to be proud of the present servico. Facilities had been granted for carrying prams on buses. Other matters which had received attention were the clean-ing-up of Balena Bay, the replacement of the ornamental feneo along the waterfront in Oriental Bay with a concrete wall, the discharge of sewage into the bay, and a request for a slot telephone near the bus waiting shelter. The telephone was refused in the meantime by the P. and T. Department. Further representations to the council had resulted in £500 of the unemployed loan being voted for additional work on Maida Vale road, and that sum had been expended. A considerable amount had also been allocated to Palliser road and work was under way. OFFICERS ELECTED. Officers were elocted as follow:—President, Mr. F. W. Moore; vice-president Mr. C. Pinnock; committee, Messrs. C. M. Turnbull, F. W. Downs, F. C. Newman, R. C. Burton, G. Catchpole, L. Sired; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. D. Hunt; delegates to Civic League, Messrs. Moore and Newman; delegates to Eastern Suburbs League, Messrs. Downs and Turnbull. Warm appreciation was expressed of the successful efforts of the executive in the interests of the district. At the samo time it was regretted that residents generally did not support the association to a greater extent. In recognition of his long services to tho association, Mr. D. M'Laren, who is at present abroad on a <kpu*j^ «£- ---cruiting trip, was elected a life member. Messrs. Newman and Catchpolo wore appointed to wait upon tho Tramways Manager in regard to alterations in the time-table of the bus servico from Kilbiruie via Evans Bay to meet the convenience of residents wishing to reach tho city by S a.m. and 5.30 a.m.
