Pressure has risen further in the North, but is still low to the east of New Zealand, having fallen to 29.45 in at the Chatham Islands.. Scattered showers, fell yesterday in the North Island with rather strong southerly winds, but conditions have gradually' improved, the winds having decreased in-force.- The South Island has had mainly fine weather and somewhat variable winds, but westerlies have: ruled .in the southern half, and at 9 a.m. to-day they were accompanied by showers about Foveaux Strait.
