LYALL BAY SCHOOL

The monthly- meeting of the executive committee of the Lyall Bay Home ana School Association was held m the schoolroom. The president (Mr. F. W. Boyd) was in the chair, and there was a good attendance of members. , The president and Mr.. H. M. Harris (chairman of the school committee) reported that they had waited upon the Education Boardiu regard to the delay in' surfacing the lower, portion of- the playground, and- the ■ difficulties kad been overcome and the'surface drainacre adjusted. Mr. T. Forsyth (chairman of tho board)'had-instructed Mr. G. Powell, the board's architect, to proceed with the work^ and it was anticipated that work would be started early next week. *~*;, Mr. O. A. Banner (headmaster) stated that parents' day would be held nest month. '■■'», 11 Air. Harris, on behalf of the school committee, stated that when the surfacing of the playground is completed it is intended to sot aside a tennis court for tho use of members of the Home and School Association and the teaching staff. Mr. Banner, on behalf of his staff, challenged members of the association to a match on the opening day, and the challenge was accepted; It was resolved to bear in mind a new layout of the playground facilities for cricket, and other sports could be indulged in without danger to others. The ladies' committee reported that arrangements were in hand for the dance to be held towards the end of this month.
