MAIL SORTING PLANT
AUSTRALIAN INVENTION
INSTALLED IN SYDNEY G.P.O.
SYDNEY, 17th September,
An elaborate mail-sorting plant, which has occupied many months to install in the Sydney General Post Office, and has cost £120,000, is now in operation. An experiment carried out with 50,000 dummy letters revealed 100 per cent, elßciencv.
The whole thing is automatic and is purely an Australian invention. There are a hundred electric motors employed in the mechanism.
